Mike in Africa

Hey there friends and family at KCL!!
2009 is already quite a fun-packed start for me in Nth Africa. I'm  
still loving life and work here, tough at times but all good. Father  
God is Almighty and merciful, gracious and compassionate!

His Word is so good and tasty! I'm inspired lately from Ezekiel  
chapters 2 and 3 where the Lord tells the prophet to 'eat the scroll'  
then go speak to the people of his nation. I want to eat God's Word  
like a hungry child!

This past week from Thursday 15th Jan to 25th I'm travelling around  
the southern part of the country with a team mate. We have a budget  
and an assignment. The idea is to gain experience of travelling around  
the country, learning about transport, hotels, budgeting, etc in  
preparation for the big summer project in July. We also aim to meet  
with locals, hopefully spend some time in their homes, if invited...  
erm, take photos, make some art...

Please pray for us:
*Unity with each other and times of sharing with one another
*Divine appointments, leading by Holy Spirit and the Word
*Good health, to keep injury and sickness free! Pray for Lee's knee,  
that it doesn't swell up like it did couple weeks ago!
*Favour with transport, hotels, eating places

Mike in Africa

Hi friends,
Mike here writing in Nth Africa. Settling in well, eating, sleeping 
and getting around - which means I have shelter, I can ask for and buy 
food and I can kind of make myself understood for where I want the 
taxi driver to take me!

Last week, I found myself being randomly invited for a meal at a local 
family's home - was good and felt very welcomed. Hope to continue 
contact with them. Also making good relationships with traders 
especially the fishmonger. He speaks some good English and so can 
teach me his native language too! Shared a story with him about a 
friend of ours called Peter who couldn't catch a single fish all night.

This coming weekend I'll be living in a local family's home so good 
chance to learn lots language and about culture. Please hope it'll be 
a great and fruitful experience and some positive relationships will 
be started.

Following weekend is a time for all my company here to gather together 
to share news, fellowship and have fun. Woohoo! Hope that'll be 
significant too.
